Here’s the nutshell:

Donovan was born in Durban, South Africa in June 1982. He moved to Newhall, California in 2000 to attend The Master’s College.

Heather was born in Bellevue, Washington, but moved to Leon, Spain when she was 8. Her parents were missionaries there for 14 years. She moved to La Mirada, California in 2003 to attend Biola University.

We met at Bethel Grace Baptist Church in Bellflower, CA, and both served on ministry staff there for a season (Donovan – Youth Pastor, Heather – Children’s Ministry Director). We were married on June 21, 2008.

We are now preparing to be missionaries in Pretoria, South Africa! We will be working with 1Hope, a ministry to orphans and refugees started by Josh and Marda Mack (www.1hope4africa.com), and will be sent out by Bethel Grace Baptist. For more information, please see our ministry website: www.drewsministry.wordpress.com.

This blog, Masimdumisene, is for our life-updates. “Masimdumisene” is a compound Zulu word which means, “Come, lets us worship Him together”. It is inscribed on Heather’s engagement ring. Worship is the goal of our lives, and worshipping God together is the goal of our marriage.

Our other blog, Faithful Discipleship, is a “catch-all”: covering biblical, theological, and ministry related issues and other miscellaneous things (including a lot of links to blog posts we find interesting and/or helpful). We’ll also link to any Masimdumisene posts on that blog.

Blessings…

Donovan and Heather
